A Pair of Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
